Province El Seibo was one of the initial provinces formed on 6th of November 1844.
Capital city is El Seibo (Santa Cruz de El Seibo). Hidalga Villa de Santa Cruz de Hicayagua was founded in 1502 by Juan de Esquivel, Spanish conquistador.
There was a Battle of Palo Hincado on November 7, 1808, when 2000 Dominicans led by Juan Sanchez Ramirez, won a battle against 600 troops of French Army of Napoleon, led by Governor General Jean-Louis Ferrand.
The Basilica of the Holy Cross, built in Victorian style colonial landmark dating from 1556. In this mini-basilica, there is a cross adorned with precious jewels, in the center has a Lignum Crucis , a splinter of the Cross of Calvary in which Jesus died, it was donated by the Vatican. Hanging from the ceiling, three crosses, which together with the cross of the belfry, point, by chance, to Asomante Cross, the extreme southwest. In the church there are amazing pictures and images of the XV and XVI century and magnificent objects of gold and silver from the fifteenth century with diamonds and emeralds.
37 kilometers South of city El Seibo is located Village Miches. Town Miches is located 80 km up the East coast from Punta Cana, 70 km from Bavaro and 50 km from Uvero Alto beach.
By entering the province El Seibo, from the direction of Punta Cana, by new highway, first you will be passing the small village Sabana de Nisibon, on the right side of the road, then the Village Las Lisas and village Los Guineos de Miches.
Just before the Village El Cedro that is 20 km before Miches, turning righ there is a 3.5 km country road passing on the left side of Lagoon Limon (Laguna Limon), then you will come to virgin beach Cedro Playa Limon.
On the Beach Cedro Playa Limon there is a motel restaurant Rancho Cueva about 500 meters to the beach. On the same beach you will find a small river Cedro on the left side and the building of Domincian Navy, Marina de Guerra.
This virgin beach Cedro Playa Limon, is excellent for horseback riding and the excursions by the boat visiting Lagoon Limon.

Next we are having a river Cuaron, with gold deposits, that is going directly to Lagoon Redonda. Then the entrance for mountain Montaña Redonda and Lagoon Redonda. Lagoon Redonda is about 17 km from the town of Miches . It has an area of 101 square kilometers, a depth of 2.1 m approximately and is the only lake that is connected to the sea.
On the curve of Village La Mina, on the right side there is an access to Costa Esmeralda beach, about 8 km country road.
This beach Esmeralda is very much similar to virgin beach Cedro Playa Limon, long clean beach with coconuts.
Just before crossing the bridge of the river Yeguada, Town of Miches, take a turn right to the beach 1 km distance where you will find the restaurant Coco Loco at Playa Arriba Miches.
